I dreamed my friend and I playing on the streets,in peace amidst the honking cars

I dreamed my favorite teacher at school, entering,a broad smile on her face on being greeted again by an entire class

I dreamed shaking hands with the police uncle who stood at the corner, without fear playing on our minds, thinking of me just as a child in awe and honor

I dreamed the local hospital,no longer in ruins, nurses dressed in the purest whites, beds mostly empty with clean sheets

I dreamed  my father,he’s back and safe,my elder brother found and none will ever call me again waif

I dreamed children with wounds meaning no more than involvement in rough play, bandages uncommon becoming a sight appalling unlike today

I dreamed food less salty,Mother feeding me with her hands while identifying constellations in the balcony

I dreamed gazing at the stars, skies smokeless and clear but I am no longer desperate for them to shoot down

I dreamed shouting the words freedom and meaning it in our small town.

I dreamed but Mother didn’t want me to dream any more,

she told dreaming is a sin when this World is the judge

but sweet Mother,it’s the only way I can get my mind off this hunger much.

– Aks

Note : The narrator is a child living in these horrid times in the war-stricken countries.

It’s been extremely painful to read all that has transpired in the last few days.We can only pray this end soon.

On a different note, the last few months have been quite hectic for me and thus I have failed to give time to WordPress.Being in my final year of my undergraduate course I hardly am optimistic of that changing any time soon but I am extremely eager to update myself with the recent posts on my favorite blogs and will surely do it soon, one blog at a time. Also,I am lagging by quite a lot in replying to the comments on this blog and to respond to the new follows.Thank you so very much for all that appreciation,it truly means a lot and I promise to get back to each and every one of you very soon.

Life

Life’s isn’t simple,it’s the biggest lie

Leaving it to God,hoping it will be alright

No matter how windy it gets or how stormy the sky,

A candle has to burn before you put a hand around to protect it’s light.

Life isn’t always cheerful and glittering

Sometimes,it’s colored with shades less bright

Loneliness embittering

But then, dark clouds are more soothing than intense sunlight.

Life doesn’t always make sense

It’s funny,fictious,often hard to buy

Light years away, millions of atoms burning intense

But all you see is a star twinkling merrily in the night sky.

Life loves to hit you hard often like a stone thrown into a serene lake

While you watch your ‘soul mates’ just ripple by

So feel the pain, feel alive, enjoy the challenges it can bake

and kiss them a delightful good bye.

Life is your empty piece of paper, fill it,decide what gets embedded

But make sure it continues to mean something even when it gets shredded.

She needed him,to reproduce

yet never stopped the whining abuse.

Touched softly on his arms and feet bare

A deep kiss on the cheeks marked the end of the affair

Satisfied, the sexy mosquito left for a new prey to seduce.

Love is Not enough

Remember those nights we stayed up staring at the starry sky

you counting stars,me just admiring your beauty under their light

Today,I guess they have all joined you in wanting to hide

not a single one wants to come out and lie,its going to be alright

Remember the beach, the sands where we drew hearts joining our names

Watched the sunset holding hands and jumping over waves

Today, all that remains is the sea bleeding as the sun sinks in

no birds chirping by,not a single trace of wind.

Remember the poems I wrote to you,

read them aloud as you showered kisses at every romantic lay.

Those poems are the only places you’ll ever stay

along with my heart of course as I shelter this pain called love forever this way.

Ever noticed,Mother Nature takes care of her creations well,

the stars vanish only to shine brighter the following night,

the tree withers down only to bloom again,

Wonder if She will show mercy to do the same to my broken heart after all this pain.

Abused and cursed Him as He took my withered rose with thorns away,

oblivious I was to the even alluring primrose left by my side with a note underlay.

Sighted it amidst my demands for an early night,

It read, the rose was but to help you make it to the evening light

It is evening now,and the evening is here to stay!

Don’t leave Eli, stay

Don’t leave Eli, stay

we’ve been together so long,

embraced every hurdle

singing a common song.

Don’t leave Eli, stay.

Agreed, I laid the rules

enforced them on you,

but honey, you were the most precious amongst my panoply of jewels.

Don’t leave Eli,stay

Shared my entire purse

yet you continued to pound

but never did I allow matters to get worse.

Don’t leave Eli, stay

People came in and I know it caused you pain.

Father, May be our last hope

else it’s Brexit all over again.

I want to stay with her forever

yet never grow sick of her!

I want to be with her through all her ups and downs,

I want to dive deep into her yet never be the one who drowns,

I want to see her sparkle

like light on a well cut diamond, seeming quite remarkable!

She changes colors ever so often,

she’s Mystical , she’s my unsolved mystery!

All I want is to taste her waters again.

She is the sea

And Yo Ho! A pirate’s life for me!

–  Aks

P.S. : I just finished the entire series of The pirates of the Caribbean this week and that has significantly inspired this post.

Passionate  Eyes

I sat on the bench

stared at those lovely eyes that sat across.

Elegant,tender, innocent looking

the ones that could make my heart gallop without a pause.

This time was different though,

her eyes constantly moved around.

Seemed like she was searching for someone,

wanted to jump out and tell her it was me that should be found.

Half an hour passed and her eyes finally met mine

I smiled a little,

involuntary hands combing my hair,

when i looked up, it left me belittled!

She stood there unlocking her stick,

took a single snap

and immediately started walking down the street

Visually impaired she was but blindness had given me the rap.

All my dreams faded with the surrounding darkness

Kicked the bench in anger once denial had phased out

Walked down the same street again

thinking a waste of time was what this was all about.

Three years later,

met those eyes again.

This time though they were purposefully fixed onto mine

as she said those words, “I do”, to lock us into this blissful chain.

Yes, I had behaved angrily,

was disappointed no doubt.

But the magic of those passionate eyes

had kept me enchanted throughout.

Years have passed and people still question us when they see us this way.

Well to them all I say,

we are all broken in some or the way,

some are just blessed to be blind to others’ broken ways.

HappYness

Happiness, happy, Happyness, Okay first post, poem, Poetry, satisfaction, thoughts, words

You tell me that you’re  not happy

that you don’t quite feel the same

You tell that you don’t recognize joy

and that probably it has forgotten your name

Well, what if I told you that finding happyness needs no pain,

that Happyness is seeing the half glass full even when there is not a single thing in it to stain,

happyness is engaging in helping even where there is absolutely no scope for gain

Happyness is not pointing out the spelling error that you have been noticing all along

because you don’t have to satisfy yourself on others forlorn.

Happiness is within and all around

You see a homeless man with nothing to spare

yet he grins his heart out

while you stand and make grumblings to life’s despair.

Happiness is that numbness, that tranquility you beget

when no limits of obloquy can make you forget

the days when you struggled to make it happen,

the days when you believed and saw it happen.

Happiness is nothing but a true reflection,

see yourself in the mirror that’s happiness to perfection!

Toothless smile

child, I know beauty, innocence, modernization, poem, Poetry, smile, spilled ink, thoughts, words, world

In times where bombs and guns have replaced the teddy bears and cars

Where cartoons and fantasy bed time stories are soon becoming outcasts

Where money is taught to be respected

And what said about  true friendship stands corrected

Where one child judges the other based on the gadget carried

And play grounds? Ha, they have been long buried

Play stations and mobile phones reigning supreme

Winning virtual games, collecting virtual monsters being the only dream

Where messaging apps are the only way

Two individuals can communicate despite being less than a mile away

But then you come across a toothless smile

From a six year old, living on the chaotic streets

With parents barely making ends meet

Yet he finds reason and joy enough to show off the single missing tooth he possesses

While the rest of the world ‘enthusiastically progresses’
